River Dart Rotary has donated a total of £3,400 to five charities following another successful Totnes & District Classic Vehicle Show, supporting organisations that save lives, support families, provide humanitarian aid and strengthen local communities.

Funds raised through the event have been distributed as follows:

  • Devon Air Ambulance – £1,250
  • Children’s Hospice South West – £1,250
  • Ukraine Action – £500
  • South West Blood Bikes – £250
  • Tissues and Issues CIC – £150

The donations were made possible thanks to the support of exhibitors, sponsors, volunteers and the many visitors who attended one of South Devon’s most popular community events.

Rather than focusing on a single cause, River Dart Rotary chose to support a range of organisations whose work touches lives in very different ways.

Devon Air Ambulance received £1,250 towards its lifesaving work across the county. The charity’s specialist crews bring expert critical care directly to patients, often in situations where every minute matters.

A further £1,250 was awarded to Children’s Hospice South West, helping support children with life-limiting conditions and their families. Through expert care, respite and emotional support, the charity provides comfort and precious time together for families facing extraordinary challenges.

River Dart Rotary also donated £500 to Ukraine Action. The charity continues to provide life-saving ambulances, 4×4 vehicles and humanitarian assistance to people affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, ensuring essential aid reaches those who need it most.

South West Blood Bikes received £250 in recognition of the outstanding contribution made by its volunteer riders. The charity transports blood products, medications, medical samples and other urgent healthcare items throughout Devon, helping support patient care while saving valuable NHS resources.

The club also chose to support Tissues and Issues CIC with a donation of £150. Based in South Devon, the organisation provides social support, information and guidance for parents and carers of children and young people with recognised disabilities, additional needs, or those awaiting diagnosis. By helping families access support networks, services and advice, the charity plays an important role in reducing isolation and ensuring families know they are not facing challenges alone.

River Dart Rotary President Michael Freeman said:

“What makes Rotary so special is the opportunity to support a wide range of worthwhile causes. Some operate across Devon, some support people internationally, and some work quietly within local communities, helping families who need guidance and support.

Although these organisations have very different missions, they all share a commitment to improving (or saving) people’s lives. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended the Totnes Classic Vehicle Show and helped make these donations possible.”

The Totnes & District Classic Vehicle Show has become a much-loved fixture in the South Devon calendar, attracting enthusiasts from across the region while raising thousands of pounds for charitable causes.

River Dart Rotary remains committed to supporting good causes through fundraising, volunteering and community service projects, ensuring that local events continue to deliver lasting benefits long after the show vehicles have returned home.
