On Saturday, August 17th, the River Dart Rotary hosted a vibrant ‘Summer Jamboree’ that brought together the local community for a day filled with music, festivities, and philanthropy. Held at Royal Avenue Gardens in Dartmouth, this event was a testament to the spirit of togetherness and support that defines our community.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the live music, featuring performances from talented local artists, including the energetic band Equally Guilty headed by Greg Taylor who also organised all the music for the day. Their tunes set the perfect backdrop for a day of fun and fundraising.
Throughout the event, our local stall holders showcased their crafts and goodies, offering everything from handmade treasures to delicious treats. Their participation not only enriched the atmosphere but also contributed to the success of our fundraising efforts.
Behind every successful event are dedicated volunteers, and ours were nothing short of amazing. Their commitment and enthusiasm were evident in every aspect of the Summer Jamboree, from organising activities to ensuring everything ran smoothly. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every volunteer who made this day possible.
Speaking of activities, there was something for everyone at the Jamboree. Attendees enjoyed mouthwatering BBQ delights with meat supplied by Pollards, Dartmouth Butchers, tried their luck at the tombola, and eagerly awaited the announcement of raffle prizes generously donated by local businesses and supporters. Children delighted in colourful face painting, adding an extra layer of joy to the festivities. Then to help relax, there were even Indian Head Massages on offer kindly provided by Val Depledge!
Most importantly, the Summer Jamboree was a platform to raise funds for local causes close to our hearts. Thanks to the generosity of our attendees, volunteers, and sponsors, we were able to make a meaningful contribution to our community. These funds will support initiatives that enrich and improve the lives of those in need right here in Dartmouth
