Q: Who are River Dart Rotary?
A: We are a new contemporary Rotary club based in Dartmouth serving the town and surrounding areas. Part of Rotary International an organisation with over 46,000 member clubs and a membership of 1.4 million individuals.
Q: What is Rotary International?
A: The mission of Rotary is to “provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill,and peace through the fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders”. It is a non-political and non-religious organisation.
Q: What are the aims River Dart Rotary?
A: Our main aim is working to improve our community. We want Dartmouth and surrounding areas to look clean and tidy particularly in trespect of weeds and litter. In addition we support national and international projects and well as collection funds in the event of world natural disasters.
Q: Why set up BPRDR?
A: We realise that working and supporting local businesses is the best way to engage with our community. Working with local companies should provide new ideas, new volunteers and a clearer idea of what needs doing.
Q: How do we join?
A: Simple, you ask to join and then fill in a simple contact details form. If everything is ok, you get added to our WhatsApp group. We let you know what we are doing and info on new projects or ideas. You will be welcome to attend our monthly meetings.
Q: How much does it cost
A: Nothing.
Q: What sort of things do you do?
A: We run the Weed Monkeys group of local volunteers who regularly work to address the weed problem in Dartmouth. This involves liaison with the local authorities of town, district and county councils. In addition, we work with Dartmouth Green Partnerships and the new Dartmouth and District Chamber of Commerce. We recently painted part of the Townstal Community Hall and will be going back soon to paint the interior of the main hall.
